Graceful Meadows Rabbitry is the ongoing 4-H and Silver Fox work of Grace Jakes and Emma Jakes. Grace and Emma are two young rabbit breeders who want to share their experiences and rabbits with the world. They do this because they love this breed and hope that you will too. This page is devoted to fun facts about Silver Fox Rabbits, and contains some pictures of our breeding rabbits.
Fun Facts about Silver Fox Rabbits:
*Silver Fox Rabbits were first accepted into the American Rabbit Breeders Association under the name American Heavyweight Silver in 1925, but changed their name to American Silver Fox in 1929. Some time later they dropped “American” from their name to become the Silver Fox we show today.
*Silver Fox Rabbit were first accepted into the A.R.B.A. with a mandolin or semi-arch type, but as commercial bodied animals became more popular, the standard was changed to allow only commercial typed rabbits.
*Certificates of Development are held for both blue and chocolate varieties. Blues were originally a recognized variety, but low numbers in the seventies led to their removal from the Standard of Perfection. Ruth Wilson currently holds the blue’s C.O.D.
Our Breeding Rabbits:
We own some pretty adorable rabbits at Graceful Meadows Rabbitry! We hope that you will enjoy seeing some of them as well, and that they will help you if you are considering purchasing stock from Graceful Meadows.
I’m interested in older rabbits and babies.
